At the very heart of the experience offered by Antipodes is the sheer exhilaration you will feel as you interact with nature. Whether it be the crisp salty air you breathe from atop Sydney Harbour Bridge, the sensation of a koala gently nuzzling against your arm, or the smell of eucalypt hardwoods deep in Glenworth Valley, these benefits flow from our bountiful environment and we readily acknowledge a responsibility to preserve and protect these surroundings. We do this by taking every opportunity to reduce our environmental footprint.
Our first step has been to design and maintain an itinerary which flows logically and eliminates unnecessary resource consumption. An example of this is the geographic clustering of activities to reduce unnecessary transportation emissions. The next step has been to work with suppliers to develop solutions which maximise the experiential impact for guests while minimising the environmental impact. The choice to employ modern, highly efficient equipment and the use of water transport are outcomes that fall into this category. We consider these two steps part of an ongoing process and improvements are adopted as they become available.
That which we cannot reduce, we offset. Antipodes works closely with Carbonneutral, a not-for-profit West Australian company which offsets carbon emissions through the planting of native trees in Western and Southern Australia. With their help we carefully examine every aspect of our operation to identify our carbon footprint and then offset these emissions. You can rest easy in the knowledge that your actions will not contribute to climate change or global warming.
We also encourage guests to offset the carbon emissions from their flights to and from Sydney. Qantas offers this option at reservation and the current cost to offset a return flight from Los Angeles to Sydney is less than US$50.00.
